Damn Broke

Usually with EAPS the writing comes slowly, brand new with the theme word as a guiding inspiration. This time I had a poem (actually a pantoum) and a specific performance of it in mind from the jump, based on an improv with some musician friends, so I let the sound design and mix be languido, grinding to a halt midway it gets so glacial. And I had recently seen the Anselm Kiefer exhibition in St. Louis, hence a focus on water, layering, and incantation. photo, Tony Brewer Damn Broke, Tony Brewer, 2025 I write everywhere all the time but so far, all my mixing happens in a kitchen in Bloomington, Indiana. I also play lead foley in the modern classical field recording free jazz ensemble ORTET. Find more at Tony Brewer. <<< return to hear all EAPS artists |
